Okay, so it’s not exactly beer garden season just yet, and it’s still far too cold to confidently order a cider without the guy behind the bar giving you a funny look. But this year’s beer festival is going to be the perfect excuse to meet people in Derby and have a great time over a good old pint.
That’s right, the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival is coming to Derby this February, serving up an offering of the best ales, ciders, continental beers and mead from all around the country. This is all taking place at The Roundhouse, from Wednesday the 19th to Saturday the 22nd . So if you fancy it, pick a date that suits and make yourselves heard on our events board. It’s not for another week yet, but the sooner everybody knows about it, the easier it will be to organise a get together.
There’s also going to be a selection of live bands playing, so even if you’re not a big drinker (there’s probably only a couple of you out there), or if you just don’t fancy a mid-week night on the beers, then there’s still lots to enjoy and to keep you entertained.
And for the connoisseurs amongst you, there’s also going to be the Champion Winter Beer of Britain beers to be judged, taking place at the nearby Carriage Shop Theatre. We’ve been told that’s a judging competition to find the best beer in Britain, but until we turn up for ourselves, we’re not entirely sure. Either way, it promises to be a fun night out!
Oh yes, and with all that beer flowing, you might want to check our guide to partying hard without the hangover the next morning. Because if you’re planning to make a night of it, you’re going to need it.
